College & Career
Which major should I pursue?
Choosing a college major is one of the most important decisions you’ll make in your life. For most students, the choice is not an easy one. It’s not just about picking a subject that fascinates you, though that’s always a good place to start.
For many, it’s also about finding a major that will lead to a good job after graduation. It will not only have a significant impact on your earning potential but will shape the rest of your life as well.
The choice will determine what type of work you do, how you spend your days, and the people you interact with daily. It is a decision that you should make with the utmost care and consideration.
What careers are in demand?
What kind of salary will I make?
What is my passion and purpose in life?
For many students, deciding whether or not to pursue a degree in the creative arts or sciences is very difficult. Both paths are rewarding but also challenging.

How can I make the most of my degree?
College is a time for self-discovery and exploration. It’s a chance to make mistakes and figure out who you want to be as an adult. As you’re making your way through the next four years, the last thing you want is to be stretched too thin.
It would be best if you spent your time in college focusing on yourself. It helps if you are working on your personal development, learning about what you want your future to look like, and getting ready for the world outside of school.
You need to manage yourself and how to balance your life. You need to know how to decide what’s important to you and how to prioritize things. You need to understand how to say no and realize that you have the right to do so.
When you are a freshman, you have to keep up with your classes, get good grades, and make new friends. Later, you have to decide on a major and figure out what you want to do with your life.
College is a time and place that can be filled with a lot of stress. So, what is the best way to make the most of college? Recognize that your college experience should be filled with both work and fun.

How did you get your internships?
Deciding to pursue an internship during college is a big step, but it pays off. Not only will it make you more attractive to future employers, but it will also give you access to real-world experience that looks great on your resume.
So, how do you get started? By taking advantage of the resources provided to you by your school, of course.
My school resource center didn’t position me to find my weird and wild career path, but I still managed to have lots of fun along the way.
If you’re like me and you didn’t get much help, don’t panic: It’s still possible to get an internship on your own. You just need to do a little legwork and be tenacious.

What’s the best piece of advice you give current students?
Self-care and support networks are an essential part of your journey to becoming a successful graduate.
Here are a few tips to help you develop both:
1. Make a list of the challenges you faced during college and have overcome. These challenges may include: adjusting to college life, academic challenges, money struggles, family issues, major changes, etc. Every time you feel overwhelmed, revisit your list. The feeling of accomplishment will help you stay strong during challenging phases.
2. Talk to your friends and family members about your college experience. Ask them what they did to make it through their senior year. Maybe they had similar challenges to you.
3. Consider joining a support group or attending a seminar. I offer creative coaching and free community spaces on my main page, and we would love to have you join us. It’s a safe space where we help each other grow and succeed in becoming our best selves.
