Many notable personalities were nominated for The Global Choice 100, and Kim Taehyung, known as V of the famous K-pop boy group BTS, bags all the categories, namely: 2022 Global Fashion Icon of the Year, 2022 Global Face of the Year, and 2022 Global Artist of the Year. Kim Taehyung grabbed all the titles and was named the global choice for 2022.
The nomination and voting started on January 1, 2022, and ended on December 5, 2022.
Catchy lyrics, exceptional choreography, music that can make you dance, and astounding faces—some features of the K-pop industry served in a bowl. The recent years have shown the success of the K-pop industry, and in the present, it is more evident that it has been a massive success and is now dominating in the global music industry.
The Global Choice 100 is a platform that honors and celebrates the achievements of the world’s most remarkable and outstanding personalities in fashion, beauty, music, and entertainment and gives fans the freedom to vote for whoever their hearts beat for. With the votes tallied, it is undeniably stating that Kim Taehyung got the support and hearts of his fans worldwide as he brings the entire bacon home.
With the global and massive success of the K-pop boy band BTS, who wouldn’t notice Kim Taehyung, or most commonly known as V? He is one of the most popular K-pop stars worldwide. As a member of the K-pop superstar group BTS, he gained popularity and achieved widespread success and recognition.
Every massive success means a ton of hard work, grit, and perseverance, and these can be seen through Taehyung’s journey. His journey to becoming a successful musician began in 2011 when he auditioned for Big Hit Entertainment, now HYBE Corporation, the company that manages BTS. He was eventually selected to join the boy group, which made its debut in 2013 with the album “2 Cool 4 Skool.” Since then, Bangtan Boys, or BTS, has become one of the most successful and influential K-pop group in the world, with a devoted and passionate fan base known as the “Army.” The devoted fans, the ARMY, use the color purple as one of the symbols for the superstar K-pop group. Purple hearts have now become a thing.
With his remarkable vocal and dancing abilities, as well as his charisma and stage presence, Taehyung has helped BTS succeed. Through his solo work, which includes writing and composing his own music, he has also shown his variety and range as an artist. Taehyung has dabbled with acting in addition to his profession as a musician, appearing in a number of television dramas and motion pictures.
As a group, BTS has garnered a lot of praise and recognition in the global arena. The seven members—RM, Jimin, Suga, V, J-Hope, Jin, and Jung Kook—are also recognized by the United Nations as their efforts have positively influenced the youth. In the 75th session of the United Nations General Assembly, they shared their struggles during the pandemic and gave a heartfelt message to the world. To add to that, BTS and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) partnered for the “Love Myself” campaign, which aims to promote self-love and self-care. It was launched in 2017 with the release of BTS’s single “Love Myself.” The lyrics encourage its listeners to respect themselves and others and to stand up against violence and discrimination.
BTS has crossed the line, as they have achieved numerous accolades and milestones throughout their career. However, their success is not limited to their group; their individual successes also count. A true fashion icon doesn’t just wear clothes; but uses fashion as a statement. As for V, crowds cheered as he appeared on CELINE’s Paris fashion show last June 22, 2022. He was with two K-pop superstars, Lisa Manoban of BLACKPINK and Park Bo Gum. V was present by personal invitation from Hedi Slimane, a world-famous designer. The three took the internet by storm as they made an appearance, and there was a lot of frenzy everywhere.
His guest appearance at the said fashion week made the crowds go wilder. V looked so dashing with his leather pants set matched with a red leather jacket and a sequined top. This was V’s first ever attendance to a fashion week, and according to allkpop, V’s impact was insane as he was the only K-pop guest and yet he had the highest engagement for CELINE. That said, V has won the 2022 Global Fashion Icon of the Year. Garnering the votes, he topped and surpassed other prominent nominees like Bella Hadid, Harry Styles, Lisa Manoban, and Taylor Swift. V just brought his fashion taste, charisma, exhilarating aura, and popularity to the table.

Kim Taehyung, V of BTS, won another title as the 2022 Global Face of the Year. With the much anticipated results of the votes from across all our social media platforms, V has again topped the results. Who wouldn’t be in awe of his handsome and striking features? After making an appearance at the June 2022 Paris fashion week, V was chosen by Vogue Korea to grace the cover of its October issue. Vogue Korea emphasized that V was creatively involved in the process. In a love letter to Taehyung, Vogue Korea calls him “The Universe Star,” stating that he has a captivating style that inspires designers.
The October issue of Vogue Korea made history, as V’s cover for the issue had the highest sales index ever recorded. The sales exceeded the 1 million mark just on the first day of pre-order. Vogue Korea was right in choosing V for its cover, which also means that countless fans are waiting for V’s appearance on future magazine covers. It is undeniable that V deserves the 2022 Global Face of the Year. Not only is he a K-pop superstar but also a global phenomenon.

With almost a year’s worth of votes, tweets, likes, and shares, V has brought all the bacon home by topping the charts, and here we are: V is the 2022 Global Artist of the Year. His efforts as an artist are very well recognized by all his fans worldwide. His Christmas Tree and Sweet Night on Spotify gain over 400 million streams, and V has 3.3 million listeners on the platform. His soulful and powerful vocals made his listeners keep coming back to stream more of his music.
The fact that Taehyung won the title of “Global Artist of the Year” in 2022 is evidence of his artistic ability and commitment, as well as of the close relationship he has built with his audience. His outstanding vocal and dancing abilities continue to excite and enthrall audiences, and he has established himself as a flexible and multi-talented artist and performer.
