KATERINA GUSAKOVA

Who am I?
My name is Katya, I’m an English teacher for adults and a good person with a kind heart. Here are a few facts about me:

◽️ I graduated with honors from the Horlivka State Pedagogical Institute for Foreign Languages with a degree in translation and interpretation (English and German). I worked as a translator for 2 years, got bored, and decided to discover the world of teaching. And it sucked me in! That’s funny 'cause I remember myself saying, «I WILL NEVER BE A TEACHER» 😆

◽️ I wholeheartedly love foreign languages. Besides English, I speak German and Spanish (though very poorly, as I haven’t practiced in a long time). Next on my list is Italian.

◽️ I enjoy working with adults because I admire them for their unquenchable thirst for knowledge and their never-ending desire to broaden their horizons irrespective of their age.

◽️ I don’t work with textbooks. I create the curriculum from scratch using authentic materials (videos/podcasts/articles). It’s not that I hold any grudges against textbooks. I just find them boring. I derive much more pleasure from immersing my students in real English.

◽️ I’m a super responsible, disciplined, systematic, and meticulous sort of person. At the same time, I am very patient, empathetic, and understanding. I recognize that my clients are busy adults who have to juggle a ton of commitments besides English. I don’t believe in quick results. My approach to teaching thrives on collaboration and dedication. I only work with students who are willing to invest their time and effort.

◽️ I smile a lot and love it when people smile back at me:)
Wanna be my student?
1️⃣ Your level is B1+;

2️⃣You feel that there’s room for improvement. There are certain aspects you want to focus on, such as vocabulary expansion, fluency or grammatical accuracy;

3️⃣You feel that you lack time/knowledge/discipline/support. You realize that you need an experienced teacher who could provide you with quality feedback and a consistent approach;

4️⃣You need more conversational practice. You don’t want to just aimlessly cram lots of vocab into your head. What you actually want is put your knowledge to good use;

5️⃣You want to learn real, authentic English and discuss topics that actually interest you, rather than those imposed by a textbook
My method + Prices
You can study alone or with a partner.

I use a flipped classroom model. This means that you study the materials and do your homework BEFORE class. Then, in class, you work through what you watched/read, discuss these materials and put the key vocab and grammatical structures to use.

Once every 2−3 months, we revise all the materials we’ve covered to consolidate knowledge and fill the gaps.

After each lesson, I send you my feedback providing corrections and tips on all aspects of the language.
